Sun-Sink for Solar Homes

If you own a rooftop solar PV system, you probably receive a feed in credit for excess power that you generate. If the amount you receive is more than 18 cents less than what you pay for electricity you import, Sun-Sink is a cost effective way of gaining more value for your solar energy by restricting exports and reducing the amount of electricity you draw from the grid in the evenings. Currently the only way to get a healthy return if you are not on a high feed-in tariff is to use your solar power as it is generated. This is almost impossible to achieve especially if your home is vacant during the day. Sun-Sink enables you to “Save the Sun for Tonight” earning you a return closer to the actual cost of buying electricity from the grid. Proper planning of your solar PV system, coupled to a matching storage unit from Sun-Sink can make your home ‘virtually off grid™’ with the grid connection available when you need it on rare occasions. You can even off-set your daily connection charges by exporting just enough to cover these costs. Our units fit comfortably alongside your PV system and switchboard and can located internally as well. Our full service and replacement scheme means you need never worry about the units becoming redundant nor failing due to the passage of time. Our units are set and forget!

Sizing your system. The size of your Sun-Sink unit depends on you daily usage patterns and the size of you solar PV system. A rule of thumb is 2 kilowatt hours of storage for every kilowatt of installed solar PV. This can vary dependant on your daytime loads. A home with a high evening usage may benefit by installing 4 kilowatt hours per kilowatt of  solar PV installed.
